We made a couple visits to the Royal Shakespeare Theater while in Stratford-upon-Avon on our house sit. This night was by far the best we've seen. On this evening we saw Richard III and a fine production it was.
No doubt the brilliant red of the spare stage setting represents the blood spilled in the play. The monument represents many things: walls, castles, monuments, ruins during battles, etc.
the red on the seats and floor do not represent blood, just a nice color for us paying visitors.
Should you find yourself in Stratford, you really should make a point to see a play here. It is well worth your time and money.
