Hartz Mountains
The Hartz Mountains in the summer are filled with small colorful flowers that bring the greens of the alpine meadows to life.
Unlike our previous trip in the winter when it was raining and cold, this time it was very windy and cold. But it had recently rained and there were places where water was standing instead of the coating of snow we saw in the winter. This, no doubt, helped bring all the colors to the heath.
The colors are a bit subtle but if you look you can see the amazing range of flowers in the field.
Certainly the trees are putting out their seed, but even the lichen on the rocks seems to be glowing.
The red color in the fields mostly comes from these small flames. I don't know what these are, but there are really great.
here you see where the bright red flower contrast with the white, orange, green, and yellow ones. Perfect summer time treat in preparation for Christmas.
