The Devli's Kitchen

Our tour of Pirates Bay has led us finally to the Devil's Kitchen. This is another example of the ocean eroding the coastline to create not a blowhole or an arch but a long, deep notch.

This place apparently gets its name from the churning water found in it on even the calmest days. The bushes along the cliff make it hard to see the water so far below. These images were obtained be reaching out over the edge of the cliff and aiming as best I could. Perhaps this is the one place where a selfie stick could actually be useful.

In spite of the name and expectations, the water seemed pretty calm to me on ourr visit.

Along the walk to the Devil's Kitchen, we saw trees with these interesting designs. These are the result of some sort of worm or insect burrowing through or just under the bark of the tree.
