Grass Valley is a much larger town than Nevada City. We stopped here for breakfast before heading back to Angels Camp. Mill street has been converted to a pedestrian street and is filled with nice shops and restaurants. We had a great breakfast here.
A pleasant, inviting place to sit for and have a cupa.
While the sidewalks are not wooden, it does have a bit of the old west feel to it. Nevertheless, the stores are all quite modern and filled with the sorts of things you'd expect.
There is a Carnegie library here that is still in use.
And a quite impressive bank. Clearly there was plenty of money here during the gold era.
Chock-a-block with "fireproof" brick buildings and lined with local art, this street is a dandy place to spend a few hours and explore.
There is even an events center and places to explore your Eastern inclinations.
