Pine Grove Cemetery - II

Pine Grove is one of the better cemeteries we've visited in a while. There are many interesting people and their markers here.

While many of the people here were young, some very young, there are others who lived a long life. For example, Frank here who immigrated from France.

There are wooden markers here as well.

The Davidson family plot now finds itself at the foot of a very large tree. Was it already a large tree when the borders of the plot were established or did the tree come later? Hard to know.

This fragile looking structure covering this family plot has be puzzled. My best theory is that it was a kind of pergola to support some vining plant (roses maybe?) to cover the graves. Over the years the summer heat and perhaps the weight of the plants distorted the metal work. Or, perhaps this is all a fantasy. I certainly don't know. Whatever the origin, this make an interesting feature in the cemetery.

With the book of life and the draped stone, this fellow from our neighboring country to the north memorializes his final rest.

And we have another of these all metal grave markers here. I find them quite handsome and they seem to hold up very well against the elements.
