The Coast at Castletown

Since I can't stop the wind, I tried taking advantage of it. here are some shots from the harbor in Castletown on a windy day where we cansee the sea at work on the shore.

Even though there is lots of white in the long exposures above and below, the smoothness it gives the water make it all seem peaceful.

Adding time as a component of the image, we get a busy but not active view of the local lighthouse.

However, where you move to short exposures to get a feel for what we are really experiencing, we see a very different mood of the sea.

There was another fellow out with his camera and tripod taking images where I was. He had been here before and noted that on a really rough day, we'd be back up the street some 75 or 100 yards to avoid the rush and splash of water.

Yet, in spite of the violence of the sea, the birds seem to navigate around the breakwater and the waves quite easily.

Facing away from the lighthouse, we see the mostly obscured sun reflecting from the water.

In a calmer moment, the gulls seem to be flocking about the lighthouse.
