Peel Cathedral
In Peel, we also found the cathedral. The Cathedral Church of Saint German, AKA the Peel Cathedral, AKA Cathedral Isle of Man is a Church of England cathedral for the Diocese of Sodor and Man.
It was built between 1879-84 and honors a Celtic missionary and holy who lived from about 410-474 CE.
Unlike many C of E churches, this one has stained glass. No doubt this is a result of its Victorian origins.
Behind the altar is a set of three stained glass windows and corresponding screens with various holy figures depicted on them.
Peel is know as the Rose city since so many building are constructed of the dark red stone found here. Even the lighter colored stone of the pulpit has a pink-ish hue to it.
It is a nice, quiet place. Cold on this particular day since no one turns on the heat without a service in progress. Even God cannot afford to heat an empty building.
