Fiumei úti sírkert - 1

The Fiumei úti sírkert or as Google translates this, Fiumei Road Tomb, is the place where heros and other significant people in Hungarian history are buried. It was established about 170 years ago and is filled with some pretty interesting memorials to personalities great and small.

There is lots of emotion conveyed by the statuary found here. This one, of a woman praying (or begging) seems not to be associated with any grave. It is just sitting near the edge of a field.

But many memorials are carved in great detail, giving them a lifelike visage. I'm always impressed by how stone is carved to look like cloth.

There are many religious references as you would expect. This is one of the more subtle references.

Others just express great sorrow.

Some religiously themes markers are anything by subtle.

But a great many of the statues make reference to the talent or memory of the deceased.

Great musicians, writers, and thinkers are all found here.

I don't really know what this person did in life. I presume that it was not wildcat wrestling. However, I'm sure it was a person of strong will and intellect.
