This sire for the dam was selected because the canyon was narrow here and the dam would be as small as possible. This makes the view of Lake Mead seem puny. Nevertheless, it is the largest reservoir in the US.
I find it interesting that even the intakes have an Art Deco feel to them.
It seems a bit out of place to have, even in these very low water conditions, to have so much water sitting out in this clearly desert landscape.
