Mesquite flat is fun place for photos. It was easy to pick a place to stand and turn in different directions for photos.
I decided that I needed to come back at sunrise to see if the colors and contrasts were better. And with this notion, we moved on to Zabriskie Point.
Zabriskie Point is a totally different place filled largely with yellowish rock that has been worn down by wind and water into seductive, almost organic, shapes.
The crests of the rock formations have been worn away by foot traffic over the years leaving them lighter than the rock on the hill sides. This adds to the 3d perception of the hills.
Here, mother nature put blue formations next to the yellow. It is as if it has always been that blue and yellow go together, even before there were people to know it.
