A Ride on the Danube

Part of our Hop-on/Hop-off bus tour was a one hour ride on the Danube. We took the later one, near sunset, enjoyed nice views of both Buda and Pest. Above is the Buda side of the river with the castle near the center of the frame.



In front of us here is famous Chain Bridge with its imposing stone towers on each end.

But the highlight of the trip was the ride past the Hungarian Parliament building. This is the largest building in Hungary, the largest parliament building in the world and a mighty structure on the shore of a mighty river.

We were told there are 20 km (!) of stairs and 691 rooms in this building. It is immense and beautiful. We are planning a tour in the near future.
