Back to London
After Malaga, it was back to London again. The folks we sat for near Torrox also have a house in London and invited us to sit for them there. Naturally, we accepted. This house is south of Greenwich so we are a ways out of central London. This means that one of the easier ways to get about is on the buses. The image above is a curiously names bar on the way into town. Our first night at our house sit, we had tickets for a show, so off we went.
In this first post of our return to London, we shall see a few scattered things just to let you know we are here. Not far along New Row street from Covent garden is this hat shop with lots of colorful hats in the window.
On the next day, we tried to go to the Greenwich Vintage market and found it to be a bust. Nothing there worth mentioning. so we went to the Greenwich Market. It is larger but we were there at a bad time or bad day about found it lacking. So we headed over to the Old Naval Hospital and then to the Maritime Museum.
At the Maritime Museum, I went to see the Astronomy Photograph of the Year display. Afterwards we headed upstairs to see Nelson. We'll not him exactly, but the jacket he wore when he was shot on board the Victory at Trafalgar. You can't really see it in this photo, but the bullet hole is still there and quite apparent. The right arm is pinned across the coat because he lost this arm in an earlier battle.
The breeches he was wearing were cut off of him and are displayed (blood stains and all) in another case. This may seen pretty strange to you but remember, Nelson is holy here and it would be a sacrilege to discard something that had been in contact with him at his death.
