The Orleans in Las Vegas

So, we recently spent a long weekend with our extended family and friends in Las Vegas, NV. This was our first time here so we spent a lot of time wandering the casinos to get a feel for the place. Over the next 10 or 12 days, I'll be posting images of our excursions.

Today we start at the beginning...The Orleans. This is a hotel/casino just down the street from where we stayed on Tropicana Ave. When you walk in the door, as those gentle readers who have been here will know, you are confronted by a vast room filled with various computerized contraptions designed to separate you from your money. Around the edges are places to eat. No one want to have to carry out a malnourished gambler.

In one corner of the hall, we find people who are interested in betting on sports. the folks below are sitting at a bar and watching sports on TV.

The odds and the spread (all of which I've never really understood) are posted on the big board.

And there is a wall of TVs tuned to show all (most?) of the games in progress.

The carrels are filled with people watching specific games and no doubt betting. The fellow on the left with the paper in his hands is holding the racing form and clearly and working the bets.
