Waterloo Bay in Elliston

Continuing on the road westward, we come next to Waterloo Bay in the town of Elliston.

The day had turned a bit dreary but the clouds make for a dramatic sky over the ocean.

This  is a sizeable bay protected by a shoal at the opening. This make the bay itself quite and the entrance a noisy place.

We walked out to Wellington Point (of course it is named that) to look for shore birds and see the sights.

The roar of the waves coming in was constant, the wind in our faces, and the sky more that little menacing.

Yet it is an impressive place with rocks and water everywhere.

I really don't see how a sane person gets a boat across this shoal and has a boat left to sail in.

There were few visitors this day and it was pleasant to visit in the solitude that privacy and the sounds of the surf create.

All around this park are the houses of the small town of Elliston. It is easy to see why someone might be drawn to live (at least part of the year) in this spot.

The shore plants are beginning to come out for spring and show their colors as well.

After Waterloo Bay, our next stop was Ceduna. There is not much to say about Ceduna. We stayed in a motel on the shore that was mediocre and ate similar quality food. But at least we got a hot shower so we could recover from the previous two nights of sponge baths. After Ceduna is the Nullarbor.
