Swan Lake
Also near the far end of Phillip Island is Swan Lake. Although the flock of dusky moorhen above is enough to suggest that this place is not a haven for swans, think again.
The Black Swans were out in force and happy to pose for my camera.
They are indeed handsome birds.
Of course, on shore is the Cape Barren Goose finding nesting sites and raising their young.
Some of the swans were busy with their afternoon ablutions.
This fellow seemed to create his own shower.
And this one is preening his feathers. The wings are mostly white underneath and you can see this here while this guy is woking on the under parts of this wing.
