The land iguanas are everywhere there is a bit of shade on this small island. Most of that shade is under a prickly pear cactus which these fellow love to eat.
The cactus is not just standing there to take it passively either. No sir! they are covered with thousands of spines and are always busy producing flowers to spread and grow.
Just to give you a bit of perspective, I am using my 100-400 mm lens but not at the longest focal length... perhaps at 200 or 250 mm. I standing about 10-12 feet away and he really just doesn't seem to care one way or the other. When you are the king of the island, nobody bothers you. Also, it is clear that there must be nearly daily tour groups coming through, so he is used to the hubbub.
Here is what the island looks like: rocks, ground cover, and cactus. No water.
