Black-necked Stilt, Hermit Crab, Swallow-tailed Gull

Not every bird found on the islands is one that is only found here. The black-necked stilt is one of these common birds found in lots of places that has made its way here.

But wherever they are, they are always striking with their ballet dance poses and peaceful approach to life.

On the beach, we found a hermit crab exploring the sands for food.

On the north side of the island, we hiked to a cliff to look for blue-footed boobies. Alas, they were not here, but we did see some swallow-tailed gulls. This immature one came in for a rather spectacular landing. Kinda reminds me of Nixon coming out of Air Force One.
