Leaving Death Valley

Driving west from Death Valley, we cross over/around the Panament mountains and down into another valley similar to, but less spectacular than, Death Valley.

Here, there are some signs of life to be found along the road. But it sure is desolate out here.

There is a lake here, Owens Lake, I believe. This place also suffers from high heat and low rain.

If, in 1849, on your way to imagined fortune, you crossed from Death Valley into this one hoping for better times, you must have been sorely disappointed.
