During December, we house and cat sat for some friends back in Staunton. In spite of the bitter cold spell that we experienced, I was able to find times to get out the house and walk the streets of Staunton looking for some interesting bits to shoot.
As with all small towns, things change slowly here. Some places have a fresh coat of paint, others are untouched. A new coffee shop has opened just by the train station (although the station itself remains dormant) that has good coffee. Armed with a hot cupa in hand, I wandered, looking for visual interest.
Out by the train station is always a place to find small details worth a look. There is an old baggage cart sitting by the fence that keeps people back from the tracks that I thought had some fun textures and shapes.
This particular door, I've forgotten where exactly, has an old drop slot for the daily paper from back when there was such a thing. None of the paint was left on the door and the slot hardware is much fancier than such a utilitarian thing should be. It reminds us of a time long past.
