Parish Church of St. Andrew, Coniston

In Coniston, we find the Parish Church.

It is unclear exactly how old this church might be. But it has been here a while.

It is believed that Coniston Chapel was a 'Chapel of Ease' of the Rector of Ulverston, which was in the hands of the Augustinian monks of Conishead Priory from the twelfth century, Ulverston and its daughter chapels being served by the monks or their appointees until the Dissolution of the Monasteries in 1536.

Like all the churches during our visit, there was a table to collect memories of the Queen.

The churchyard had many interesting stones to see. Today I bring you but one of the many interestingly carved markers.
