If this lava lizard looks hot...well it was. That's one of the things I really liked about our visit to the islands. I finally got warm through and through.
The iguana, however, prefered being in the shade. I suppose that being smaller, the lizards can dissipate excess heat more quickly than the larger ignaua.
Even though they are much smaller than the iguanas, these fellows do share many of the same characteristics: spiny bits along the back, splayed feet for a good grip, and a long tail to drag about behind them.
I have no idea how one determines the sex of an iguana, but this group under the tree together most reminds me of a bunch of guys hanging out in the sauna.
