Frigatebirds and Boobies

We saw earlier the deflated gular sac on the male frigatebird whose egg was lost. Here, we see the proud puffing of a father to be.

It seems as if this inflated sac is a beacon to the rest of community that his virility is intact and he's ready to take on the world.

Meanwhile, the boobies are starting their mating ritual. The larger one is the female.

It is a long complicated dance these two do to seal the deal on the mating.
