Riding with the Reindeer

This forest is enchanting. However, I'm pretty sure that I don't want to be here in the summer. This conifer forest must be filled with mosquitoes when it is warm here. Now, however, it is delightful.

We wander along the path from the kotta to the reindeer farm in preparation for our ride.

When we arrive, the reindeer are all hitched to their sleds and ready to go.

I must say it was pretty cool being pulled along through the snow by these handsome beasts.

We ended up in the front sled (I suppose that age has its privileges) and one of our chaperones took a photo of us. It was very nice under the heavy blanket.

For the rest of our ride, this was out view. While a horse-drawn sled seats you higher so you aren't looking directly at the horse's ass, at least the reindeer do not evacuate their bowels as often. 'Twas a very pleasant ride.
