The trees here all look like they've been powdered with confectioners sugar. The cold and the frequent light snows contribute to this. As you can see from the snow on the roof of the building, the snow is fairly deep. We also find this out when we step off the beaten path. It looks relatively light out as if the sun were doing its job. But notice the lights on in the background. It is still pretty dark. The exposure of the camera is fooling you.
This row of small cabins makes a nice image.
Across the river in Sweden, the trees seem dark and a bit foreboding. Although there is a bridge a mile or so away, there is nothing on the Swedish side that resembles civilization.
Here, you can see the width of the river and how forested it is on either side.
There are other groups having fun here. In this building is a group of french visitors awaiting the arrival of this fellow. We were told he is a kind of FInnish shaman, dressed in his skins and furs. I don't know what he was coming to do, but he saw me with jy camera and paused to pose a moment for me.
