You will not see a Lyrebird in the post, but you will hear one!
On the way out to the Tahune Air Walk, we stopped by the side of the road to walk out of a place called the Look In Lookout. Crazy name, right? It was a platform in the forest about 40-50 meters from the roadside from which you could simple view the dense forest. And, for sure, this is place of great beauty and enormous ferns. Watching the video is not the interesting part.
Listen. In the distance you will sound of what we are sure is a Superb Lyrebird in the distance. Just close your eyes and listen.
This nest video is even less interesting visually. But let me take you to this moment...
We are standing at the side of the road. The first thing you notice is that is no traffic. Zero. Nada. It is absolutely quite.
Except for the Lyrebird just singing his heart out. It is, after all, the beginnings of mating season. We are closer to him now so he is louder.
So, here's what you do.
- Dig out your ear buds and plug them into your laptop/phone.
- Find a quite place to sit.
- Put in your earbuds and close your eyes and take a moment to mentally joint us beside the road in this thick forest with no other humans anywhere near us.
- You there? Good. Click play.
Welcome to Tasmania.
