Tahune Air Walk
This is what a mature stringy bark tree looks like from about 20 meters above the ground. This forest here is filled with them.
From the height of the Air Walk, we can now see the Huon river and the more distance mountains. Also on the righthand side of the image you can see the Air Walk itself as it nears the end, suspended over the edge of the river.
From this vantage, you really can see the dark tea-stained color of the water flowing in the stream. We've been told that over where we are, this water flows on top of the denser salt water that flows in from the sea as the tides surge back and forth.
Although it not visible in the images, it was raining lightly on us as we walked and I took these pictures.
The combination of rain and sun naturally gave rise to another rainbow.
A small change in the rain pattern and now the rainbow seems to start in the edge of the river.
At the exit from the steel walkway where it finally comes to ground again, there is this huge stump from what appears to be a mostly hollow tree. In a place like this, even death and decay is hauntingly beautiful.
