The Salamanca Market is a large weekly gathering of people to meet, eat and buy lots of stuff. While the Eumundi Market is probably better, this one is pretty amazing.
You can tell you are in Australia when you see folks selling "possum luxury knitwear". I mean, where else but Tsmania v
Naturally, there are musicians scattered about for everyone's enjoyment.
Here's a short video of fellow playing some sort of collection of one-man-band instruments singing about being in love with the bearded lady.
Food of every kind you can image is on sale.
And towering over the market is Mt. Wellington. Yes, the market really does go all the way up this street as far as you can see and more.
We ducked for a few minutes into a market/store along Salamanca street. There was a goodly collection yummy cakes.
Back on the street, was young woman playing her violin with some skill.
Surely, you wouldn't believe we are in Tasmania if there weren't apples for sale. Lots of great cider (apple, pear, and cherry) available here.
It wasn't especially warm today so we stopped in the Daci & Daci bakery on the way back to the car for cuppa and the very best almond croissant we've ever had.
Lots of sunshine and fun people to watch. We'll do this again.
