Perry Lake
Another lake not far from the city center is Perry Lake. We found this place to be very restful. Lots of trees and a reedy wetland around the edge of the lake. Wandering among the reeds was a family of Pacific Black Ducks. At this time of the year, we see lots of ducklings.

Herdsman Lake
Not far from us, near the Ikea, is Herdsman Lake. We stopped by to have a look at the local bird life. Of course, we found the Pacific Black Duck straight away.

Moolort Wetlands
Not far from Newstead, between there and Maryborough, is a man-made lake called Cairn Curran. Around this lake are various places to look for birds. The trees that remain in the water make roosts for the birds that live there. Above, we see a Pacific Black Duck and a Little Black Cormorant.

Another Visit to UQ Gatton
While in Gatton we, of course, made another stop at the University of Queensland, Gatton Campus to visit the environmental park. This is been a rich place for seeing lots of Plumed Whistling Ducks. Not this time. Smaller numbers of birds and mostly, but not only, old friends. Above is a Pacific Black Duck.
