Penguins and Tortoises

A last look at a couple penguins before heading back to shore. Our next outing on Isabela Island was to a tortoise farm.

This place is not just a large area for the tortoises to wander, although they did have that. It also had some large enclosed areas where younger (smaller) tortoises were kept to properly feed and protect them. Most of the photos I got, certainly the better ones) were of the 'free range' tortoises.

After watching these big fellows wander and feed for a while, one wonders why they never get a sunburned neck.

I suppose it is because they mostly keep to the shade and have really tough skin.

It clearly does not take a very significant patch of greenery to attract the attention of a hungry tortoise.
