Along the Lava at the Beach

One of the shore birds we find wandering the lava at the beach is the black-bellied plover.

There were several out on this day on the constant search for food.

Another common bird is the ruddy turnstone. This one appears to be in breeding plumage.

Here, we have the plover and turnstone casing the same bit of lava.
