Since we are not big swimmers in any season, this visit to the beach in winter is great for us. A walk along an empty beach is always more fun than a stroll on crowded one.
In the village of Westport, we find a row of pastel painted cottages for the summer visitors. I found the innocence of these small, meek cottages under the foreboding sky to be an interesting juxtaposition.
Even without the color, the simplicity of the row of cabins and the menace of the sky reminds us that living at the beach (or really, anywhere) is always a gamble.
Sitting along the marina, with backs turned to the shore and the storm, any visitors in these abodes this season have no idea what the day might bring until there step outside.
Just south of the village sits a museum in an old house. It was closed when we were there but the collection of boats outside still made it an interesting place.
