Georgetown Steam Plant - III

I really like the way the dust that has settled on the piping has given it a bit of a 3-D modeled effect.

The turbine generator is the most impressive and iconic feature of the Georgetown Steam Plant. Its massive size and intricate details make for a great subject for photography. If you are lucky enough to visit during one of the demonstrations when it's in operation, capturing photos of the spinning turbine blades and the steam billowing out of the generator will make for some amazing shots.

We were not lucky enough for that. In fact, since I did not take the tour, I'm not 100% sure that I have a photo of the generator here.

The plant's control panels are fascinating pieces of machinery and make for interesting subjects for photography. The control panels are covered in dials, switches, and gauges, which create a visually compelling image.

Yes, but I personally found the plumbing much more interesting.

The Georgetown Steam Plant's brick walls, towering smokestacks, and large windows all provide great opportunities for architectural photography. Capturing the symmetry and texture of the building's details can make for stunning images.

As you might surmise from what you do and don't see here, I found the building boring. I guess that I'm not an architectural photographer at heart.

The plant's boilers are impressive in size and provide an interesting perspective for photography. Photographing the boilers from different angles can create dynamic compositions.
