Lowell Riverfront Park

Since we now, finally, have some proper spring weather with real sunshine and everything, E and I went out to Lowell Riverfront Park to relax a bit in the sun. There's a place to stand where you can look north down the river and see Mt. Baker in the distance.

With the zoom lens, I can bring the mountain much closer and you can see the snow-covered peak quite clearly. To give a notion of the size, it is a bit over 100 km from where I stood.

Feet away, not kilometers, we found a song sparrow who was intent on serenading us in the morning sun.

He/she climbed over on a climb and began to sing a pretty song.

He moved a bit farther away and really leaned into the song.

You can tell he is having a good time with his chest full and his mouth open. Even watching him do this, I am amazed to see these small creatures fill the skies with such music. So effortless and beautiful.

A great way to spend a spring day.
