And cleats bolted to timbers are everywhere.

Anchors are all hoisted here since the cleats are used to secure the boats.

I always find it interesting to see what sort of hitches and windings are used to secure a boat worth perhaps millions of dollars. You or I might want ot tied some sort of knot. But mariners know that this will work just fine.
