Church of St. Nicholas

On the edge of the Old Town square sits the Church of St. Nicholas. Unlike the catholic church dedicate to the same saint in Valencia, Spain, this is a Hussite church. On the information board in the church is says that they are basically Presbyterians "with Episcopal elements."

The inside is quite beautiful and surprisingly small given the size of the exterior.

There are seats for perhaps 100-150 people under this giant chandelier.

It is ornate without being ostentatious.

Some of the details such as this on the ceiling at the back of the church, are quite nice.

It is clear whey it has taken us two days to finally get inside. The demand for weddings here is significant. And each evening there is a classical music concert here. Busy place.

The pulpit is very nice and it's dark tones make a strong contract to the white walls.

But the space is really defined by the chandelier suspended from the center of the church. The altar area is darker and more remote. This portion, however, is light and inviting.
