Rusty Relics

The annual Rusty Relics exposition of all things old, upcycled, recycled, and re-invented has occurred and here are a few images I took while we visited.

This gathering is set in a building on the Evergreen State Fairgrounds (which is really a county fair setting...the State Fair is in Puyallup, about 10 miles or so south east of Tacoma. (This year's State Fair is Aug 30 - Sept 22.) This place is Monroe is where all things seem to happen, from stock car racing to model plane clubs to Rusty Relics. There was a car or two practicing on the track when we were there and it was really loud.

One of the basic rules of the Rusty Relics sow seems to be that within reason (excluding fabrics and food, for example), everybody must sell something that is rusty and/or a relic.

Like any good junk store, there is a mix of things you can image might be useful and things that defy understanding. Mostly, you pass from one type of thing you don't need to another...from antique radios that don't work to shoe stretchers that do.

There are even metal object of a sort that do not rust but have blue paint on them (?).

And then there are the things that just are. Like jars of buttons for people who like jars of buttons.
