Pioneer Cemetery, Mukilteo

While I was coming home from Mukilteo, I found this small cemetery on the cliff above the beach. Cemeteries are always interesting.

Pioneer Cemetery, Coloma

It'll be no surprise that there is a pioneer cemetery in Coloma. What did surprise us is that it is perhaps the best one we've visited. Lots of great stones here.

Pioneer Cemetery, Jackson

The main portion of the pioneer cemetery in Jackson has many monuments and fenced sections. The trees here are mature and the space is well shaded.

Pioneer Cemetery, San Andreas

Out along Hwy 49 near San Andreas is an old cemetery simply marked on the map as a pioneer cemetery. We pulled off the side of the road and climbed a hill. We had to open a gate in fence that warned us to be careful to keep it latched to avoid letting the cows out. Once inside we continued climbing up to a small grove of trees that shaded the residents.

There were graves here that were certainly not marked and others, such as the one above, that were denoted by natural and manmade markers.

Pioneer Cemetery

After leaving Capitol Reef, we headed north. Along the way, we spied a sign indicating a "pioneer cemetery" in the small town of Scipio. Naturally, we had to stop and have a look.

Pioneer Cemetery, Chincilla

We took a drive westward on the Warrego Highway to visit Dalby and Chinchilla. the towns were nice but nothing to  get too excited about. However, the Pioneer Cemetery in Chinchilla was a pretty interesting place.
