it is always the case that those who dies on the frontier include children. this child, perhaps, died of an illness we routinely treat today. Or maybe it was a snake or the kick of a horse. Life was hard.
This marker does give a birth date but ir sure seems like this is for a child. With just the name "Archie", it doesn't feel like a young man is buried here, rather a boy.
This marker is a mystery. It resembles a baptismal font, but sitting here in the middle of a cemetery, I presume it makes the location of someone's dear departed. Why this was chosen or what use it may have had, I cannot tell. Maybe it was a Bir lover and this is the birdbath so that they may forever watch the birds?
Ruth McGraw, below, died at age 30. Seems like a good chance that she did not survive childbirth.
