In October, Jason Mickel and I took a hike up the trail at Mt Si that leads to Little Si. These mountains that don't seem so high from the road are, in fact, quite tall. Little Si was quite enough for both of us. The image above is taken from a viewpoint shortly after we started our walk.
To get the main part of the mountain, we hiked over boulders and through forests. Here, the trees do the same.
The understory was filled with ferns basking in the dappled sunlight.
While it was not early morning, it was was, nevertheless, morning and fog still lingered in sections of the wood. In the foreground is a red cedar tree whose time has passed.
Another broken red cedar stands in front of the large boulder.
