Woodlawn Cemetery
Not far along the road from the Grand Army of the Republic Cemetery is Woodlawn Cemetery. Lots of ground-level markers here although the one above has an interesting addition of stone/cement boots.
Here, we find lots of markers that have images of the deceased etched into the black stone. Sometimes, it is not simply the dead that are remembered in this way, but what appears to be the city of origin as in the case of the marker below.
This marker has a very fatalistic inscription on the back side.
I did find one angel in this grassy lawn.
