Our visit to the Palace Hotel in Broken Hill was like stepping back in time to a movie set. The walls all painted with landscapes and the definite gay overtone.
The sign you see was the first hint that we had landed in the set of The Adventure of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert. The big silver shoe from the movie (last seen on top of Priscilla) was a dead give-away and the sign on the show advertising the Drag Bingo session.
The walls and ceilings are all covered with landscapes that seem to have only a little (or, really, nothing) to do with Broken Hill.
Too many trees and water to be local. Apparently the hotel is trying to take you mind of the weather outside.
If you can imagine the place without the paintings, it is still a pretty special place.
We had lunch in the lounge and enjoyed it all.
I expect everyone to be booking their stay for the Broken Heel Festival in September!
