Naturally, while in Staunton I made a pilgrimage to the Thornrose Cemetery. And what do I see there? A Red Shouldered Hawk! he posed on a nearby tree for som time and gave me a chance to get a few images.
He/she was a handsome creature, posed all serene and majestic. No doubt surveying the cemetery for the next meal.
This also page me a chance to test out the new 150-600 mm zoom lens. Instead of trying to move close and risk scaring him off, I added the 1.4x teleconverter to the lens and shot at 840 mm. I think it turned out quite nice. He appears lost in thought.
Such a handsome fellow!
