Today in Cal Anderson park, we gathered with several thousand other like minded souls to express our support for science, both as an intrinsic good and as an essential part of of the policy making process.
This crowd was much bigger than the one that the Tax Day March gathered.
This crowd is much younger. The organizers did a much better job this time also. One of the speakers started off-message, getting into the nitty-gritty of all the groups that are discriminated against in the country. She had her mic cut and eventually, she was removed from the platform by the police. And the cry for more support for science continued.
Being Seattle, of course it rained. Not hard, but pretty steady once it started.
We made our way out of the park and onto the street as the march began.
The large crowd was friendly and polite. Everyone, as usual, is laid back and very 'Seattle'.
We walked perhaps a half a mile back to where we had parked the car in a shopping center garage. At this point we exited the march to find some lunch (by now it was after 1:00). Here's a short video of the march passing us by.
We had lunch in a wonderful mexican restaurant at Pacific Place, got in the car and drove back to our current house sit. A good day.
