On the way back to Toowoomba from Fraser Island, we stopped along the mainland coast at Maaroom, Boonooroo, and Tin Can Bay to see what we could see. At Boonooroo we saw Eastern Grey Kangaroos.
We went to the park down by the shore and found a small mob of 'roos relaxing and eating in the park. There was a doe with her joey enjoying the shade.
Out beyond the grassy park, there was an extended mud flat at low tide. Out on the mud stood a small flock of Straw-Necked Ibis.
They preened and generally enjoyed the peace and quite of a mostly empty stretch of mud.
In Tin Can Bay, we found some mangrove trees spreading their roots in the shallows of the bay.
