Sunset at Rialto Beach

Even though sunset is not until 8:30 pm (already past my bedtime!) these days, we ventured out to catch the sunset over the Pacific at Rialto Beach. There was a fair number of people joining us for the same pleasure on a mild (upper 60-ish) evening. Here are a sequence of photos, in the order of progression of the sunset. Since I adjusted the color balance on each image separately, you'll see some fluctuations in the sky color from one image to the next, but the general trend is correct.

In an effort for completeness, we stopped by Kata Tjuta at sunset. This was much more spectacular than sunrise.

Saying Goodby to Castlemaine

As spring slowly arrives and the days lengthen, we experience a time of variable weather. Of clouds and clear sky. Of chilly mornings and warm-ish afternoons. And these sorts of clouds basking in the golden light of sunset.

We say our goodbyes to Castlemaine and the goldfields as we move on to other vistas and adventures.

Another Sunset

Just thought you'd like to see what we are seeing on pretty regular basis out here in the hinterlands of Tasmania. As you can easily see from the image there is no commercial district, no city lights, no multi-lane expressways, and no crowded populous covering the hills near us. How can we possible survive this isolation, this lack connection to civilization?

I'll tell you how.

We get this kind of sunset many days and just over the hills in the center of the picture is Hobart. What more could you ask for?

Sunset in the Rain

Clearly, I have discovered a replacement for photographing cemeteries: photographing the light on on the Huon River at dawn and dusk. I am simply amazed by the sights from the rear window of our current residence. I just had to share a few more with you.

At the end of a beautiful day (not warm, just sunny), we had another wind free afternoon resulting in a mirror-like river surface. This, of course, is the perfect opportunity for some photos.
