Lots of Old

These old buildings are a treat for photographers. There is plenty of angles to view, and shapes and textures to explore.

There is a loneliness about an abandoned building sitting in a limitless field of wheat. The lack of attention that has allowed it to decay speaks to the effort required to keep it operating in the past. the shape tells us about the practicality of the people who built it and how the limitations of the land shaped what they did. Perhaps there were once more trees here but I suspect all this wood had to be hauled for long distances to build this.

Of course, the people how built the granary also had to live here and this required more wood for home construction. It is interesting that simply plowing around this old house is more cost effective that clearing it our.

The lives of the farmers and their children are reflected in these basic constructions. Everything is hard, basic, and prone to decay.
