Here in the Pacific Northwest, we live in a temperate rainforest. The near constant rain from November to May or June, means that everything from the roofs of houses to the limbs on trees are upholstered with moss and lichen, and the understory is carpeted with ferns.
The trees grow big here but there are plenty of insects and other plants to take advantage with they finally die.
All of the activity of living and dying make for beautiful and restful scenes...ones that are difficult to really capture the essence of. Nevertheless, I keep trying. Even the new shoots are interesting when viewed up close.
