Seaweed, Rocks, and Pools of Water

When we visited Cannon Beach, the tide was out and much of the shallow sea life was laid bare. There are rocks with seaweed exposed on them and small crustaceans found int the pools.

the motions of the receding water creates interesting patterns in the sand.

The size of the seaweed covered rocks give an indication of rise of sealevel when the tide comes in.

At the water's edge, we can see smaller rocks in the sand that create their own small ecosystem of swirly sand and a pool of water.

But the large rocks really dominate the beach.
