Merry Christmas to All & Enjoy the Car Show

So this last post of the car show ended up being my post for Christmas. That's OK since this season gets much of its appear from nostalgia and that is what a car show is all about.

Old buildings and old cars spiced up with modern additions. That is how Christmas often feels... the old and new smashed together to make something that is neither old or really new.

At this time of year, even the old things that are faithful to the original design are make of modern materials and much too shiny. It makes you smile but it isn't quite right somehow.

This is how traditions carry on... layering new bits on the old, making us feel some of the older emotions and adding new things to keep it fresh.

And for the children for whom all is new, this is just how it is. Growing up with a VW bug makes them perfectly normal. Living now with reclaimed cars that have way too much chrome and strange colors is somehow all normal.

I hope your Christmas, whether old or new or some smash-up of both is a good one. It has been a tough year for many. I wish everyone good cheer. Raise a glass of you favorite beverage (with or without alcohol) and toast the season, your friends, your family, and the shiny bits that make it all worthwhile. Enjoy and relax.
