Thornrose Cemetery

One of the tings that you see routinely in older cemeteries are graves with much more detail than is typically put on a grave marker in modern times. The one above give the age at death right down to the day.

I always enjoy the colorful markers with the lichens that enliven the scene.

The Victorians are known for the many grave markers that reflect the passing of their loved ones: the draped urn, the broken stele, the shaking hands, etc. Here, bu accident, no doubt, we have a new one that also expresses a different sor

There are also more children's graves in these older cemeteries than the more modern ones. Vaccines anyone?
